Tools Suggested
Metric wrenches, sockets
and related hand tools, soldering iron and related wiring tools.
Note
While installation is
rather straightforward, dealer installation is recommended for those individuals
not comfortable with wiring and other related skills required for the
installation of this product.
PROCEDURE
Average Time: 1-1½ HOURS
- Prior to install if
you'd like to test each LED, simple hold the correct wires to the
corresponding terminals on the battery or other 12 volt source.
- Prior to hard
wiring/soldering it is recommend that you mock-up the wiring to determine
your flash rate and four-way flasher function to determine whether or not a
flasher module is needed or desired.
- Remove front turn
signals
- Expose the wiring to
allow you to set up and splice and solder the wires accordingly.
- Be advised that is
extremely likely that your bike’s right front turn signal was incorrectly
wired with reverse polarity. If your LEDs don’t light when wired correctly,
simply switch them and wire the LEDs hot wire to the stock black/ground wire
and vice versa.
- Use the stock wire
sheathing to run the wires from the turn signals up into the headlight
bucket. Be careful to run the wires in a manner that will avoid them being
pinched when the handlebars are turned.
- Your front turn
signal wires can be run in one of two ways…wires can be run along the inside
channel towards the back of your lower triple tree and up into the stock
wiring, or…You can drop the wire down through the small hole on the inside
bend of the turn signal arms and run the wires on the outside of the lower
triple tree.
- Once all your wires
are set up in the bucket, splice and solder your flasher module (if
applicable) in with the stock wiring and LED turn signal wiring.
Please note that the flasher module can be installed in place of the factory
flasher relay at any time during or after the installation of the front LED
turn signals and does not require any duplication or reversal of prior
install work.
- Remove the headlight
bucket mounting nut and loosen and/or remove the front brake line retaining
bolts (applicable on the ’03 Vegas) and slide the turn signal bracket
between the brake line and lower triple tree.
- Replace the
headlight bucket mounting nut while maintaining proper headlight and turn
signal bracket alignment and tighten. Do the same with the brake line
retaining bolts.
- Once testing and
function check is complete, reinstall headlight and double check any
nuts/bolts for proper reinstallation prior to riding.
- You’re done, what
are you waiting for…
Time to ride…
