Disconnect the top oil cooler line. This may be a little difficult because there is very little space to use any type of ratchet or ball drive |
|
|
|
|
|
Tie the oil cooler line up and out of your way |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Use a 3/8 ratchet extension to push in the rubber locating oil coolers rubbers. Do not use a screw driver or you will jack up the rubber. |
|
Grab onto the oil cooler and move it down. You will need to move it far enough down to access the horn mounting bolts and oil cooler mounting bracket top bolt. |
|
|
|
|
|
Remove the forward foot control bolt and right and left sides. Kingpin is shown Vegas install |
|
loosen the aft foot control bolt. Do this on both is the same - just different controls. |
|
|
|
|
|
Loosen the aft foot control bolt approx 4 turns out. DO NOT COMPLETELY REMOVE Make sure to support the foot controls on a coffee can or block of wood |

Remove the top oil cooler bracket mounting bolt. Get some cardboard or heavy paper and cover the back of the front fender in-between the frame and the fender. This will help protect the paint. |

|
Take the stainless button head and small 8mm washer put it on the bolt put it through the top mount plate on the Tomahawk highway bar. Take the large rubber washer and the larger stainless washer and put them on the back side of the Tomahawk highway bar top mount plate. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Position the bar between the front fender and the frame. Get the top bolt (8mm stainless button head) started if possible. Reinstall the 13mm nut and smaller spacer you took off the horn back onto the stud |

|
|
|
|
The highway bar should swing in and you the foot controls. If it doesn’t you may need to remove them. Once the lower highway bar new longer bolts and nuts. Hands tighten bolts |

should be able to slide it between the frame and loosen the aft foot control bolts or completely mount plates slide in place, you can install the so you can check clearances and fit. |

Install the zinc washers provided in the kit These are used because the lower mounting bolts, offset the control out. The washers will may take 2 –4 washers per aft bolt. Each install |
|
in- between the frame and the foot control. plates that bolt through the forward foot control shim this foot control aft bolt accordingly. It is different. |
|
|
|
|
|
Now you can start to tighten all the fasteners to correct spec ( SAE) |
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
Use soapy water to help you move the oil cooler back into place |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Reinstall the top oil cooler line. Make sure you have the rubber o-ring in the cooler and the white Teflon sealing washer on the end of the line, prior to installing line. |

|
|
|
|
|
|
Make sure all fasteners are correctly torqued and oil lines are in place. Start engine and check for leaks prior to operation. Fix any leaks. To reinstall your horn refer to horn relocate kit for install instructions. |
